Alex Liddi & Gregory Halman: Even though not officially invited to the big league spring training camp of the Seattle Mariners Alex Liddi still gets a chance to participate. The Italian number four prospect in the organization according to Baseball America, debuted on Saturday in a Cactus League game against the San Diego Padres. As a mid-game replacement Liddi played third base and went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. He struck out in his second at-bat. He was driven in by another European player. Gregory Halman had the big hit in the seventh inning with a two-run triple. He had replaced Ryan Langerhans in right field. Both players likely will get another chance today since Seattle is going to play two games against the White Sox, respective the Brewers.
Roger Bernadina: Washington Nationals outfielder Roger Bernadina collected three more at-bats this weekend, but wasn’t able to pick up more hits. He went 0-for-2 on Saturday and 0-for-1 on Sunday, twice against the New York Mets.
Jair Jurrjens: The Atlanta Braves right-hander Jair Jurrjens is probably making his Spring Training debut next weekend. On Sunday morning he threw his first round of live batting practice after being pain free in three bullpen sessions last week. He will take two days off, throw again to hitters on Wednesday and could enter a game as soon as next Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Jurrjens had to take things slow at the beginning of training camp after experiencing soreness in his shoulder three weeks ago.
