Italian pitcher Alessandro Maestri is adding another chapter to his well-traveled career. The 26-year-old right-hander from Cesena is going to try his luck with the Kagawa Olive Guyners in Japan. It is a club in an independent league. He was signed following his successful winter experience in the Australian Baseball League. He dominated in Down Under and won the ABL Fan Choice Award, playing for the Canberra Cavalry. After five seasons with the Chicago Cubs organization, reaching Double-A, Maestri had entered the independent league circuit in 2011, taking the mound for the Lincoln Saltdogs.
