The academy of the Cologne Baseball School (CBS) started in November. In two age groups – U15 ages 10 to 15 and U21 ages 16 to 21 – they are practicing twice a week led by the coaching staff around Georg Apfelbaum and Martin Osterloh. During the tryouts with over 40 participants in October, they selected 25 players and put them into the two groups.
In the winter months they are using the well-equipped indoor facilities of the German Sport School in Cologne, which have batting cages, pitching machines, screens and different utilities. The concept of the academy of the CBS is unique, as the players remain with their home town teams in Bonn, Cologne, Neunkirchen, Pulheim, Ratingen or Solingen. Instead they receive additional individual advice by the coaching staff of the CBS.
