ADO has taken a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five relegation series against the Almere Magpies this past weekend. In game one on Thursday Eugene Henson scored four runs and Koen Meershoek went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI to lift the club from The Hague to an 11-6 win. On Saturday in Almere, ADO prevailed 1-0 behind a complete game three-hit shutout of Bobby Carrington, who struck out eleven. The Magpies avoided the sweep with a 4-2 win on Sunday. Wesley Bernardus scored twice. Games four and possible five are scheduled for next weekend. The loser of this series has to take on UVV from Utrecht, which won the championship in the first division in the Netherlands. They haven’t played in the Hoofdklasse since 1988.
