ADO Lakers The Hague withdraw from Dutch Hoofdklasse

Posted on February 3, 2015 by philipp

During an extraordinary general assembly the ADO Lakers voted to dissolve the club. It is not yet official since not 75 percent of all club members were present. However at a second meeting in March, where only the majority of the present members matter, the same result is expected.

Meanwhile the board of the ADO Lakers took the first consequences. They withdraw the first team from the Dutch Hoofdklasse. The other seven teams already have been informed according to Honkbalsite.com. The Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Federation (KNBSB) also already acknowledged that the ADO Lakers no longer are part of the Hoofdklasse.

It is the second traditional Dutch club after Sparta/Feyenoord in 2012 to dissolve in recent years. The club based in The Hague was founded in 1948, won the Dutch Hoofdklasse in 1992 and the European Cup in 1993. It is not yet clear if a replacement team will fill the empty spot.
