The Australian Baseball League resumes play on Thursday with three new series. Leader Sydney Blue Sox (17-10) are looking to bolster even further their current pole position, as they are adding Major League experienced outfielder Trent Oeltjen and reliever Rich Thompson to the roster for the remainder of the season. Both are from Sydney and are currently under contract of the two Los Angeles based MLB organizations, Oeltjen with the Dodgers and the Thompson with the Angels.
The Blue Sox are riding a five-game winning streak and will face the Perth Heat (14-14) in a rematch of last week’s series. Additionally the Canberra Cavalry (10-18) and the Brisbane Bandits (10-16) are hoping to reduce the gap towards the top four and the Melbourne Aces (15-12) and the Adelaide Bite (15-11) towards first place.
