The French Baseball and Softball Federation (FFBS) released a 26-man roster for the upcoming French International Baseball Tournament in Senart (Tickets available here) and the following European Championship in Regensburg and the Czech Republic. Two players will be cut before the Euros in September (Sep. 12-21).
Notable missing players on the squad of head coach Eric Gagne are right-hander Marc-Andre Habeck, infielder Carlos Hereaud and outfielder Frederic Hanvi. From North America Dan Camou will strengthen the pitching staff, Andy Paz of the Oakland Athletics the catching corps and Rene Leveret on offense.
Offensively Maxime Lefevre, Omar Williams and Felix Brown are forming an athletic infield. The pitching staff features Owen Ozanich, Mathieu Brelle-Andrade, Patrice Briones and Pierrick Lemestre among others. Four reserve players were selected as well, which includes Alexandre Roy of the Seattle Mariners, the second French player in affiliated ball.
France is going to face the Netherlands, Belgium and a team from Japan in the France International Baseball Tournament “Yoshida Challenge” from September 4 to 9 in Senart, France. The tourney is officially sanctioned by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and therefore will have some small implications for the Men’s Baseball World Rankings.
