2010 in Review – Czech Extraleague – Technika Brno

Even though 2011 already started we still continue our series to look back at the 2010 season in European Baseball. After Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain and France, the Czech Extraleague steps to the plate.

Technika Brno

2010 Record: 19-9
2010 Ranking: 2nd place in Czech Extraleague after regular season. During the playoffs Technika Brno had a bye in round one. In the semi-finals they overcame a 0-2 deficit against MZLU Express Brno to reach the championship series. In a back and forth affair in the finals they lost to AVG Draci Brno in five games. Technika won the European Cup Qualifier in Antwerp. However they missed out on the chance to secure a second A-Pool spot for the Czech Baseball Association, as they lost the Playoff series against the North Stars Moscow.
Runs Scored: 166 (5th)
Runs Allowed: 109 (2nd)

Best Batter: Ryan Murphy. After being released in Taiwan, the 29-year-old Canadian joined Technika and batted .391 (OBP .563/SLG .783) with four homeruns, six doubles, 22 runs and 20 RBI in just 13 games.

Most Stolen Bases: Matous Worm 4

Best Pitcher: Trevor Caughey. The former minor leaguer had a 7-1 record with an ERA of 1.86 in eleven games for Technika in the 2010 season. He struck out 74 batters in 77 1/3 innings, while walking 14.
Best ERA: Ryan Murphy 1.74
Most Strikeouts: Trevor Caughey 74
Most Walks: Daniel Mraz 22
Most Innings Pitched: Trevor Caughey 77.1
