European Cup remains in Matino, Italy for now
During the latest meeting of the technical committee, the six teams and the organizers of the European Cup in Matino, it was decided to play the tournament in the southern Italian city anyway. Since Monday about 50 people were on hand to work hard, improving the troubled playing field and received approval. The work will continue over night until the EC finally starts on Wednesday afternoon.
However the format will be changed and the six teams will be split into two pools with FC BARCELONA, AVG DRACI BRNO and T&A SAN MARINO in one, and CORENDON KINHEIM, FORTITUDO BOLOGNA and TEMPLIERS SENART in the other. The first two of each group would play each other in crossover games to determine the two final four participants, the third-ranked clubs battle against relegation. Games will be stopped immediately, if the surface becomes too dangerous.
KINHEIM, which still wasn’t sure to participate under these conditions, decided in the evening to follow the path of the other five teams and is going to play too. The European Cup is now supposed to start with a matchup between T&A SAN MARINO and AVG DRACI BRNO at 2.30pm CET. The TEMPLIERS SENART and CORENDON KINHEIM are scheduled to play at 8.30pm CET.
