The defending champion T&A SAN MARINO will open the 2009 season in the Italian Baseball League on April 10th against the promoted club PALFINGER ITALIA REGGIO EMILIA. In other matchups on opening weekend DANESI NETTUNO hosts the much-improved DE ANGELIS GODO, MONTEPASCHI GROSSETO faces TELEMARKET RIMINI in a duel between champions of 2007 and 2006, and CARIPARMA plays against FORTITUDO BOLOGNA.
Each week three-game series are scheduled. The regular season in Italy lasts until July 18th and is only interrupted by the European Cup Final Four in Barcelona, Spain in June. The playoff round begins on July 22. The best-of-seven Italian Series is supposed to begin on August 14.
