2009 in Review – Italian Baseball League – Palfinger Reggio Emilia

During the next couple of weeks, maybe months, we are going to look back at the 2009 season. We started with the Dutch Hoofdklasse. Next up: the Italian Baseball League.

2009 Ranking: 8th Place in Italian Baseball League. REGGIO EMILIA got relegated due to finishing eighth in the IBL.

Best Batter: Taber Lee. The Californian infielder had a nice debut season in Italy, batting .297 (OBP .409/SLG .446) with 17 extra base hits, 19 runs scored and 15 RBI in 41 games.

Best Pitcher: Abe Alvarez. The left-hander, who received a championship ring with the Boston Red Sox in 2004, went 3-8 with an ERA of 2.96 in 14 games (13 starts), striking out 50 batters (20 walks) in 79 innings.
