2009 in Review – Dutch Hoofdklasse – Corendon Kinheim

During the next couple of weeks, maybe months, we are going to look back at the 2009 season. We will start with the Dutch Hoofdklasse.

Corendon Kinheim

2009 Record: 26-16
2009 Final Ranking: Fourth in Regular Season of Hoofdklasse. The club from Haarlem was eliminated during the semi-finals, losing in three games against DOOR NEPTUNUS. KINHEIM took one of the two top spots at the European Cup in Matino, Italy this spring, qualified for the European Champions Cup Final Four in Barcelona, Spain, where they finished in third place, defeating L&D AMSTERDAM in the bronze medal game.

Runs scored: 227
Runs allowed: 166

Best Batter: Danny Rombley. He batted .396 (OBP .483/SLG .583) with five homeruns, 33 runs scored and 24 RBI in 38 games, playing center field. He was second in the league in batting average, third in slugging and on-base-percentage. He also led the league in total bases (84), hit the third-most homeruns, and was second in runs scored, third with 57 hits and third with twelve doubles.

Most Home Runs: Bryan Engelhardt 8 (led the Hoofdklasse)
Most RBI: Bryan Engelhardt 30 (5th in Hoofdklasse)
Most Runs Scored: Danny Rombley 33 (3rd in Hoofdklasse)
Most Stolen Bases: Danny Rombley 7

Best Pitcher: David Bergman. The Dutch national teamer went 8-6 with an ERA of 2.02 in 15 starts, completing three of them with shutouts. He struck out 88 batters in 107 innings, while walking 18 and issuing just 80 hits.

Most Strikeouts: David Bergman 88 (4th in Hoofdklasse)
Most Walks: Duko Jansen 37 (6th most in Hoofdklasse)
