Fortitudo crushes Grosseto on Friday

FORTITUDO, coming from eleven straight victories, crushed MONTEPASCHI 10-1 in Grosseto on Friday evening. They produced 17 hits and led 6-0 already after two frames. Manuel Gasparri was two-for-four with a homerun and four RBI. Richard Austin (3-4, 2 Runs) and Lino Connell each drove in two. Newly acquired Brant Ust homered for GROSSETO in the seventh to avoid the shutout for the home team.

Martin Vargas (BOL) allowed just three hits and two walks in six innings against the 2007 champion. Lincoln Mikkelsen (GRO) was charged with nine hits, six runs and three base on balls in five innings.

PARMA used a six-run sixth to blow a close game open and won the slugfest against SAN MARINO 13-8. T&A overcame twice a deficit, but had no answer for the big inning by CARIPARMA.

Pascual Matos drove in three. All nine batters of PARMA had at least a hit and a run. Stefano De Simoni, Luca Scalera, Orlando Munoz and Adolfo Gomez each scored twice. Martin Vazquez had two RBI for SAN MARINO.

Stefano Bazzarini got the start for PARMA but was chased from the match after two-plus innings, five hits, four runs and a walk. Mattia Salsi relieved him and got the win. Mattew Marrone took the loss, giving up nine hits and six runs in 3 2/3 innings.

Buddy Bengel led RIMINI with nine strikeouts in seven four-hit innings to an easy 6-0 shutout against GODO. Offensive wise Filippo Crociati drove in two with two hits in four at-bats. Clinton Balgera, Luigi Carrozza and Giuseppe Spinelli also had RBIs.

Lino Luciani allowed six hits, two runs and a walk in seven innings for the loss.

NETTUNO scored in every frame between the third and the seventh and built up a 6-0 lead. The RANGERS rallied for two runs in the eighth, but lost anyway.

Igor Schiavetti was three-for-four with a triple, a run and a RBI in four at bats. Carlos Duran, Juan Camilo and Leonardo Mazzanti also drove in runs for DANESI. Massimiliano Sartori and Francesco Mania’ got the RBIs for REDIPUGLIA.

Nelson Cruz gave up five hits and three walks in five innings of work for the win. George Delgado took the loss after giving up six hits, four runs (3 ER) and four bb in five-plus innings.
