Canada wins first game of exhibition series in Perth
Last week the Perth Heat won a series against World Cup of Baseball host Chinese Taipei. The Canadian team is in much better form. They defeated Perth 2-1 on Wednesday in the first game of four.
Both squads showed an exiting pitching performance. James AVERY (CAN) allowed only one hit and one walk in five innings. Kelly MARK (PER) was not far behind. He gave up two hits and three base on balls in four frames.
The Heat scored the first run of the game in the top of the sixth, through a RBI-double by Andrew KYLE. But Canada answered right away and rallied in the bottom of the same period. Mike SAUNDERS tied it with a RBI-double. He also scored the winning run on a RBI-single by Nick WEGLARZ.
Mike KUSIEWICZ earned the win. Mike JOHNSON completed the game with two perfect frames. Brendon THOMAS received the loss.
